How To . . .

Having a tool and knowing how to use it are two different things.  And though I grew up working in my dad's hardware store and was fascinated by the hand and power tools, I still have to admit that there are many tools that I don't know how to use.

I'm sure that someone in our congregation, for example, knows what a "ten foot concrete vibrator" is and how to use it (see a picture from a catalog at right), but I don't have a clue.  To a concrete worker, it might be the most obvious thing in the world, but to me, it's just a strange mystery that I might never understand.

It's the same way with the tools of our faith.  I grew up with a Bible and using a Bible seems as natural as can be to me, but many people tell me that they don't know how to read it, how to understand it--or even where to start their study of it.  And learning to pray--many people tell me--is like trying to learn a foreign language.

So in our worship series that begins on Sunday, we want to tell the "how-to's" of the Christian faith.  How do you study the Bible?  How do you pray?  How do you do family as a Christian?  How do you join a church and become a good member?

We invite you to join us for this very practical series as we learn the very basics of our faith!

Youth Praise Band CD

Our Youth Praise team has recorded a CD!  We are selling these for $10 as a fundraiser for our Youth Camp. Since we have over 40 people going this year, we need all the funds we can get. This CD is a great way for you to get some great music and help us at the same time. If you would like to reserve a copy, contact Kyle

Senior Adults To Organ Stop Pizza

Join our seniors on a trip to Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa on May 29 at 11:00 am.  And if you're not a senior, that's still okay--the pizza and entertainment is for all  ages!  The cost for pizza, unlimited beverage, salad, and entertainment is only $8.75 per person.  If you can drive others, that will help, but we will also take the Church van.  Let Pastor Numa know if you will join us on the van or if you can drive others, or make a note of it in your connection card and hand it in.   The caravan of vehicles will leave for Mesa at 9:45 am.  We can enter Organ Stop at 11:00 am, and will stay until 12:30 pm.  Plan on joining us for fun, food, and fellowship.   Dress is casual!

5th Annual Women’s Luncheon
Saturday, May 17, 2008, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, $12

We have nearly 100 already signed up to attend our 5th annual women's luncheon.  Don't miss out on what has become our women's “favorite event” of the year.  This is an excellent venue for inviting your family and friends who might not generally accept your invitation to a “church service.”  Take a moment this weekend to register for this event.  You’ll be glad you did!

We are having a Swim Party!  School is almost out so we want to invite children in Kindergarten through third grade to join us for a time of fun in the sun and a dip in the pool on May 24th from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Don't feel left out if you're in fourth through sixth grade because we will have another pool party for you on June 7th from 1:00-3:00 pm.  Bring a sunscreen and a beach towel and join in the fun.  For more information about the pool party contact Amy Zimmerle by email or at 623-932-2723.
